With the continued goal of improved and up-to-date communication with Alaskans, U.S. Sen. Mark Begich is launching a new Twitter Page and upgrades to other social networking platforms.
On the new Twitter account @SenatorBegich, Begich will share daily updates of meetings and hearings, Senate votes, travels across Alaska, and present Alaskans a new fluid way to keep in touch with his work on their behalf.
"Facebook has been an outstanding way to communicate directly with Alaskans and our-stepped up Twitter effort will enhance those channels," Begich said. "Alaskans have found the social network sites are a great way to keep in touch, share their thoughts on important issues and continue the dialogue of how to move our state forward."
With over 3,500 friends on Facebook, and dozens of Alaskans being added each week, Sen. Begich has switched from a personal Facebook account to a Fan Page. The change will allow Begich to have an unlimited amount of fans as the current account would eventually hit a ceiling. Friends should not expect any changes and will automatically be listed as fans.
Begich has also officially launched his Flickr page. A photo hosting and sharing website, his photostream will provide Alaskans with a visual guide of his work in the Senate as well as meetings and events throughout Alaska.
These efforts supplement Begich's YouTube page, a biweekly electronic newsletter and his website's RSS feed, which provides a daily account of Begich's schedule. Future efforts will include interactive web videos.
