If the Federal Government Can't Fix Our Immigration Issues, Then States Should Be Able to Tackle Problem Head On
Today, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC-03) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's criticisms of the Arizona immigration law:
"It is no secret that our nation's federal immigration policies are in urgent need of a massive overhaul. If President Obama's administration is not going to get tough on illegal immigration, the states have every right to tackle this problem head on.
I applaud Arizona for granting state law enforcement the necessary powers to deport illegal immigrants and protect citizens from border violence. By combating illegal immigration on the state level, we are asserting our 10th Amendment rights, protecting our citizens and safeguarding American jobs."
