Kirk Celebrates Polish Constitution Day

"To the Polish Armed Forces I served with in Afghanistan, thank you." -- Congressman Kirk

Congressman Mark Kirk joined thousands of Poles from across the state to celebrate Polish Constitution Day at the 119th annual parade.

"I am humbled to be here today with the Polish-American community to commemorate Constitution Day and to celebrate the cornerstone of the vibrant democracy we see today in Poland", said Kirk.

Congressman Kirk also pledged to support a visa waiver program for Poles seeking to visit the United States.

The 119th annual Polish Constitution Day Parade is sponsored by the Alliance of Polish Clubs and is the largest Polish parade outside of Poland.

It celebrates the anniversary of the ratification of the Polish constitution on May 3, 1791. Nearly 250,000 people from Chicago's Polish community were expected to celebrate at the annual parade.
