Mcintyre Votes To Stop Congressional Pay Raise

U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre has voted to stop the automatic annual cost of living adjustments for Members of Congress in 2011.

Congressman McIntyre stated, "In these tough economic times, Congress should not be raising their own salaries when working families are struggling. We must set the example, and we must do all we can to help folks find jobs."

HR 5146 which has passed the U.S. House extends the current pay freeze already in place from 2010 by denying the $1,600 automatic cost of living adjustments for Congress scheduled for 2011.

The U.S. Senate has passed identical legislation last week, and the bill now heads to the President.
