Stabenow Statement on the Passing of Ernie Harwell

Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) issued the following statement regarding the passing of famed sports announcer Ernie Harwell.

" For 42 years, families throughout Michigan tuned into their radios and welcomed Ernie's signature voice into their homes as they listened to him call Detroit Tigers games. Today, I join with millions of people in Michigan and around the nation in wishing Ernie a final farewell.

Tigers fans everywhere mourn the loss of the great man who gave us so many wonderful memories over the years. I offer my deepest condolences to his beloved wife of 68 years, Lulu, his two sons and two daughters, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Although Ernie has left us in this world, I know that he will live on in the memories of every Tigers fan."
