Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported that President Obama's government takeover of health care will increase health care costs.

"This is a smoking gun that proves why President Obama and Speaker Pelosi rammed this bill through so fast." Scalise said. "This report removes any doubt that the government takeover of health care will increase costs for middle-class families while leading to more job losses for hard working Americans. I will continue fighting to repeal this bill and replace it with reforms that actually lower the cost of health care while fixing the problems in our current system."

In the report, CMS determined that President Obama's health care takeover will increase national health care expenditures by $311 billion and that health care costs will increase to 21 percent of the GDP by 2019. CMS also reported that under the new law, 18 million people will remain uninsured and 50 percent of seniors will lose their Medicare Advantage plans.
