Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7)made these remarks following comments that Carol Browner made to POLITICO.

"President Obama seems determined to implement economy killing carbon limits without regard to the bi-partisan Congressional opposition to those measures. Carol Browner's comments higlight the need for Congress to act to restrict the EPA's regulatory authority immediately, so that we can have an open debate on energy independence and the need for reform that rewards innovation and doesn't tax Americans out of house and home in the name of global warming."

In an Earth Day interview, Browner reiterated the Obama Administration's intent to go ahead with EPA regulation of green house gasses despite bi-partisan opposition to regulation ahead of Congressional action. Browner said, "EPA also has authority per the Supreme Court to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, and Administrator Jackson is working very, very carefully to make sure she does that in the best way for American businesses."

Writing in the Earth Day supplement of The Hill, Blackburn hilights how proposed regulations would come at a high cost to business. Blackburn is sponsor of H.R. 391, a bill that would void the EPA's finding that some green house gasses endanger human life and strikes EPA's authority to regualte those gasses through the Clean Air Act.
