Castle Response To Approval Of Cape Wind Project

Statement

Date: April 28, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

"Today's approval of the Cape Wind project is a clear step toward a national commitment to reaching energy independence. With projects like this and the one in Delaware, we will soon we able to tap this rapidly growing source of clean, domestic, and reliable power, which is critical for energy independence, the environment, and new job growth. Secretary Salazar's announcement reaffirms that a balance can be struck between the nation's pursuit of clean- domestic energy, and minimizing not only the visual impact of the wind turbines but preserving the traditional cultural resources and historic properties in the Nantucket Sound area."
