High property taxes are forcing too many seniors to choose between paying for medication and paying their bills. We need to shift the funding for our schools from property to income taxes with a dollar for dollar swap so that there is no increase in taxes.
The United States is rapidly falling behind in producing students who excel in math and science. We must be competitive and produce innovative individuals with strong critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills. We need to make sure that our teachers have adequate resources in the classroom and that the needs of our local school districts coincide with the interests of tax payers.
If we devote more attention to education we will be investing in a more stable and more prosperous economic future, and I think our children deserve nothing less than immediate action. That's why our universities and community colleges need entrepreneurial programs to give young people the training they need to succeed in our changing job market and the resources to bring their creativity and business acumen to fruition.
