Landrieu Recognizes 2010 Census Day

Statement

Date: April 1, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La., today recognized 2010 Census Day, and urged all Louisianians to fill out and return their census forms.

"The census is not just about counting people. It is about allocating valuable resources for schools, infrastructure, law enforcement and public services," said Sen. Landrieu. "The most significant thing any individual can do to make sure Louisiana communities get their fair share of federal funding is to fill out the census form's 10 simple questions, and turn it back in."

The federal government uses data from the census to determine how an estimated $400 billion in federal funds are spent each year.
