Congressman Bilbray released the following statement after the House of Representatives H.R. 3590, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act:
"We absolutely need health care reform, but this bill raises taxes on individuals when one in nine San Diegans are out of work. It raises taxes on businesses when California has 13.2 percent unemployment. It is loaded with backroom deals yet California loses out on all of them: we'll be paying for Nebraska's health care, losing out to Louisiana and Florida on extra Medicare money and getting less access to quality health care. To see this bill pass along purely partisan lines, with bipartisan opposition, is, in itself, a massive failure of leadership in Washington."
