Today, Paul Hodes released the following statement in support of health care reform:
"The promise of health reform -- cutting costs for middle class New Hampshire families, enabling small businesses to create jobs, increasing access to the doctor of your choice, and breaking insurance companies' ability to discriminate and deny coverage -- simply can't wait. After reading the language of this proposal, speaking with middle class families, small business owners in New Hampshire, and health care professionals, I am convinced that enacting this reform is the right thing to do.
"Health reform will create jobs and jumpstart our small business economy. Year after year, small businesses are faced with job-killing double digit rate increases on health insurance for employees. In this reform proposal, nearly 35,000 small businesses across New Hampshire will be given tax credits to provide the health coverage of their choosing.
"In total, nearly one million Granite Staters stand to gain from health care reform. The proposal that I will support extends coverage to 60,000 of our uninsured neighbors, reduces the federal deficit by 130 billion dollars in the next decade, improves Medicare coverage for 200,000 New Hampshire seniors, and will rein in some of the most egregious practices of health insurance companies."
