House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement after a bipartisan meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reaffirm the critical importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship:
"Today's bipartisan meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu reinforced the unwavering support of the United States Congress for Israel. In particular, we agreed that building in the Jewish neighborhoods of Jerusalem is not an impediment to the peace process.
"A united Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Now is not the time to be manufacturing a crisis with Israel to curry favor with the Arab world. The focus right now should be on standing with Israel in the fight against terrorism and rallying the international community to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."
