Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21) today agreed to cosponsor H.R. 4903, a bill to repeal the fatally flawed government takeover of health care.
Congressman Smith: "The American people are overwhelmingly opposed to the Democrats' government takeover of health care because it increases premiums, raises taxes and reduces benefits. Under this bill, many health care decisions will be made by federal employees, not patients and their doctors. The result will be less care at higher cost.
"Congress should repeal this overreach of government control and start over on health care reform. We should focus on real reforms that reduce health care costs without limiting the rights of the American people to make their own health care decisions."
Congressman Smith also joined 54 members of Congress in signing a Pledge to Repeal Obamacare sponsored by the Club for Growth. For more information about the Pledge, please visit http://www.repealit.org/
