Vitter Offers "Repeal It" Amendment to Reconciliation Bill

U.S. Sen. David Vitter today introduced his Patient Choice Restoration Act as an amendment to the budget reconciliation bill. This amendment essentially nullifies the newly-signed government-run health care legislation.

"This past weekend, after months of town halls and polls in which the American people overwhelmingly and loudly rejected Obamacare, liberals jammed through a partisan bill to take over our health care system using tricky procedural tactics. The president has signed into law a bill with a trillion dollar price tag that will place the government between patients and their doctors, raise premiums, drastically cut Medicare, increase job-killing taxes, allow for the federal funding of abortions and create a new entitlement program that adds to our increasing deficit."

Yesterday, Vitter introduced a standalone piece of legislation to repeal the newly-signed, partisan health care bill.

"Americans can't afford and don't want this intrusion of the government into their lives. That's why I offered a standalone measure to repeal this law as well as offered this amendment to the budget reconciliation process to fight against this takeover of health care. Repealing this unconstitutional and unpopular bill is the first step in restoring Americans with the freedom to make their own health care choices," Vitter said.
