Congressman Steve King made the following statement after signing on as a co-sponsor of H.J.Res. 77, a resolution that disapproves of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) attempt to establish a hidden energy tax by labeling carbon dioxide a regulated pollutant under the Clean Air Act.
"The EPA's classification of carbon dioxide as a pollutant is irresponsible and makes no sense. The government cannot seriously expect to regulate the very thing we exhale.
"This is a backdoor attempt by the Obama Administration and the radically liberal EPA to institute a national energy tax that will harm American businesses and workers. With unemployment at 9.7% and 15.3 million Americans out of work, we must not create incentives for companies to move more jobs overseas."
