Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., issued the following remarks today in opposition to the Democrats' $15 billion so-called jobs bill:
"Much like the Democrats' failed $862 billion stimulus package, this $15 billion spending bill will add billions of dollars in generational debt on the backs of our children and will fail to save or create jobs for struggling West Virginians.
"In a time of rising unemployment for my home state of West Virginia and for the Country, Americans are calling on Congress to pass a meaningful job creation bill through permanent tax relief for our families, friends and small businesses. Instead, the Democrats' bill simply continues Government's unsustainable deficit spending and hand-outs.
"This bill fails to offer genuine incentives for our business owners to hire our unemployed family and friends. Our small businesses need more than a small tax credit from the Government-they need immediate and meaningful reform.
"While I could not support this bill, I will continue to work across the aisle to develop sustainable pro-job solutions that don't break the bank."
