Today, Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) released the following statement in response to Congressman Charlie Rangel's decision to temporarily step down as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee:

"Chairman Rangel made the right decision to step down as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. While we have yet to hear the complete report from the ethics committee, we must all maintain a high standard of openness, transparency, and accountability."
