Stabenow: Bipartisan White House Health Care Summit Opportunity to Move Health Insurance Reform Forward for Americans

Press Release

Date: Feb. 25, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) made the following statement regarding President's Obama White House Summit on health insurance reform and the President's health insurance reform proposal.

"Today's White House health summit provides an opportunity to find bipartisan agreement on health insurance reform that will save lives, save money, and save jobs. American families and businesses have waited too long for affordable health insurance as they see their health care costs continue to rise. President Obama's proposal builds off of legislation that I championed in the Senate, cutting taxes for individuals and small businesses to help them pay for health insurance, and limiting the families impacted by the excise tax. It creates a health care "bill of rights' to protect American families from insurance company abuses, and fully closes the Medicare prescription drug coverage "doughnut hole" for seniors.

"Bottom line--health insurance reform is about saving jobs in Michigan and it is time to get this done." --U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow
