Alexander Statement on Conrad-Gregg Debt Commission Amendment

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after his vote in favor of the Conrad-Gregg amendment to establish a Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action:

"The national debt has grown to alarming proportions, and now Congress is being asked to raise the debt ceiling by another $1.9 trillion. The Conrad-Gregg Commission is the most promising way to provide accountability, responsibility and oversight of federal spending, so that our grandchildren are not burdened by massive levels of debt and taxation."
