Roe v. Wade -- 37 Years Later

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

In 1973, one Supreme Court ruling paved the way for the legalization of abortion, forever changing the meaning of the "sanctity of life." The outcome of Roe v. Wade has been tragic - tens of millions of pregnancies have been terminated.

Making it worse, the President and Democratic leaders in Congress want to expand access to abortions by using federal tax dollars to fund programs that support and perform them. The American people do not want a government takeover of our health care system, and they don't want their hard earned tax dollars going to abortions. Our Democratic leaders need to think long and hard about what is best for those they represent, and a health care plan that includes abortion coverage is not it. As a father, grandfather and pro-life OB/GYN, abortion is an issue that is especially important to me and one that I am determined to ensure does not become a part of any health care bill.

I want to commend the thousands of people who participated in the annual March for Life today, especially those who came all the way up from the great state of Georgia. To me, the dignity of human life is priceless, so I ask our Democratic leaders who are so determined to ram this health care bill through Congress, what is it worth to you?
