Demanding Public Access To Health Care Negotiations

Today, I signed a discharge petition to force a vote on requiring public access to health care negotiations.

As you may know, I am a proud cosponsor of Congressman Vern Buchanan's resolution to prevent secret deals behind closed doors and to ensure a full and open debate of the Democrats' health care bill. If today's discharge petition receives 218 signatures, then the House would be required to vote on Congressman Buchanan's transparency resolution.

Unfortunately, for weeks Congressional Democrats have been meeting behind closed doors -- plotting a government takeover of health care that will affect every American.

I believe that every American has the right to know exactly what Congress is planning to do to their health care, and I will continue working with my colleagues to demand transparency and to call on the Democrat Majority to kill the bill and start over. The American people deserve better.
