Congressman Kingston Visits Waycross Health And Rehabilitation
Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA/01) visited and addressed a group of seniors at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Friday. The organization provides long term care for seniors and provides a comprehensive care plan that includes rehabilitation services, family involved consultation and care plans and assessments to enhance the experience of patients.
Kingston spoke to a group of approximately 30 seniors with varied conversation about their personal interests and their satisfaction with WHR. Several seniors inevitably expressed concern and had questions about a possible government takeover of health care and the future of the Medicaid system. One senior expressed that there are many difficulties with the existing program and worried that a takeover might make an already strained system more difficult to navigate. Many seniors rely on Medicaid to provide them with the financial means to stay in long-term care facilities.
"America's seniors comprise a major part of the population that will be affected most if government run health care is realized," Congressman Kingston said. "Struggling state budgets cannot possibly hope to keep up with the rising shared cost of Medicaid premiums. Unfortunately, this will translate into compromised care for our seniors."
WHR is Medicare certified and is a 92 bed facility that specialized in Alzheimer's and Dementia care and provides specialized care for residents with Parkinson's Disease. WHR also provides enhanced services which include hospice care, mental health, and occupational, physical, respiratory and speech therapy.
