U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) today praised Ford Motor Company for announcing its plan to invest $450 million in electric vehicle production in Michigan, creating 1,000 new jobs.

"Yesterday's announcement demonstrates Ford's strong commitment to creating clean-energy manufacturing jobs in Michigan. We are in a race with other countries like China that spends $288 million a day to develop advanced technologies. As we enter the new year, investments in electric vehicles here at home are exactly what we need to help us win that race.

"I will continue leading the effort in the Senate to create a 21 st century manufacturing strategy by providing investments in advanced vehicle technology, leveling the playing field on trade and creating additional incentives for our manufacturers to create jobs here at home."
