Congressman Eric Massa Responds To NY State Of The State Address

Statement

Today Rep. Eric Massa attended New York's State of the State address in Albany. Following the speech, he issued the following statement:

"Today I attended the State of the State address because I believe it is incumbent upon me as a Federal Representative to make myself available to our State legislators and speak with them directly about the issues facing New Yorkers. There are several problems facing our State and I wholeheartedly agree that sweeping ethics reform is necessary, however I'm waiting to see the specifics of any legislation which might be presented. Additionally, I like the idea of introducing tax credits for job creation, but again, I want to see exactly how the State Assembly and Senate will do this before passing final judgment."

"I think New York's State government needs to work in a more bipartisan fashion to lower taxes, cut government waste and create good jobs in Upstate New York, and while I'm not holding my breath, I hope to see some action as a result of the Governor's speech."
