U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown today continued his "Jobs are Job One" tour with a visit to Electric Time Company, a manufacturer of large custom clocks for towers, buildings and other outdoor locations. Electric Time's operations are energy intensive and will be affected by the increase in electricity costs under cap and trade.

"Small businesses create the jobs that will help to lift our country out of its two-year recession," said Brown. "With the economy on the brink, this is no time for a cap and trade proposal that will increase energy costs and kill jobs. Cap and trade is anti-jobs and anti-growth"

Brown pointed out that the business that previously occupied Electric Time's workspace moved to another state because of Massachusetts' high energy costs and that we can't afford more job loss.

"Times have been very challenging for us over the past couple of years and we've had to work harder and smarter to survive," said Tom Erb, president of Electric Time. "More than anything, small business needs consistency from Capitol Hill."

Added Erb: "As Washington talks about cap and trade, small business owners become cautious about the added costs and hold back on hiring new employees and making capital investments."
