U.S. Rep. Dave Camp released the following statement after reports that President Barack Obama will send about 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan:

"I appreciate that the President has finally made a decision about the path forward in Afghanistan. I hope this gives General McChrystal and all our men and women in uniform the resources they need to succeed in Afghanistan. Abandoning our efforts there would jeopardize American's safety. Clearly, the military and American people deserve a winning strategy that allows our troops to come home and Afghanistan to defend and secure its own people against the Taliban."
