MetroWest Daily News: Coakley Makes Stop In Framingham

With five days to go until the special primary, Democratic Senate hopeful Martha Coakley made the Aegean Restaurant the first stop on her campaign trail today.

The attorney general's links to the region -- specificially her former role as Middlesex district attorney -- were stressed early and often during the hour-long stop.

Said state Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, "Martha is already familiar with us."

State Rep. David Linsky, D-Natick, recalled having a cubicle next to Coakley's when the two were working in Cambridge as Middlesex assistant DAs.

Flanked by members of the MetroWest State House delegation and Selectmen Charles Sisitsky and Dennis Giombetti, Coakley stumped to dozens inside the Cochituate Road eatery for about 15 minutes.

Speaking with reporters outside the Aegean, Coakley, who is considered the front runner among the four Democrats, deflected questions about recent polls that show U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano making up some ground.

"I think that's inaccurate. The only polls that matter are the ones on Dec. 8,'' she said.
