Barrow Donates Frequent Flyer Miles To American Military Families
Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) announced today that he has donated over 39,000 frequent flyer miles to the Fisher House's Hero Miles Program, which provides free airline tickets to American soldiers and their families. Most of Barrow's miles were accumulated traveling back and forth from Georgia to Washington, D.C.
"Flying between work in Washington and work back home is part of my job," said Barrow. "I can't think of a better way to use the frequent flyer miles I accumulate than to make sure that our troops and their families can see each other, especially during the upcoming holiday season."
The Hero Miles program is administered by the non-profit Fisher House. The program is comprised of 10 major U.S. airlines whose passengers are able to donate their accumulated frequent flyer miles to assist servicemen and women or their families see each other. Soldiers may use the tickets to travel home with approved leave, or the families may travel to visit the soldiers if they are being treated at a medical center.
