Gillibrand Praises Senate Health Care Vote

Statement

Date: Nov. 23, 2009
Location: Washington, DC

Tonight, as the U.S. Senate voted to begin debate on historic health care reform legislation, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following statement:

"Tonight, we are one step closer to solving one of the biggest problems facing families, small businesses and our entire economy.

"There are some that wish to continue on our current path, leaving millions without insurance, and paying for it through a hidden tax that all insured Americans pay to cover the cost of emergency care. But the majority of Americans think that the status quo is unacceptable and that it is time to truly address the health care crisis in this country. This bill is not perfect, but it will end discriminatory insurance practices, control costs, and make quality care affordable and accessible to all Americans."
