House Passes Historic Health Care Reform Bill: After Near Century Long Debate, House Votes 220 To 215 In Favor Of Health Reform
This evening, Congressman Rob Andrews, an original sponsor of the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962), issued the following statement after the bill's final passage:
"With tonight's historic vote we are one step closer to fulfilling the promise of making the world's best health care system more affordable and accessible to all. This plan significantly limits the costs that have been spiraling out of control for decades, which have threatened the health, well-being and economic stability of our nation. Making health care more affordable not only reduces the burden on families and businesses, but also frees up the resources needed to create and sustain countless jobs without adding to our nation's deficit. While there is still much work to do, I value the discussions and debates that I have shared with my constituents and colleagues over these past few months. I am proud and humbled to be part of such historic change that will improve the quality of life for millions of Americans and help put our country back on the course of long prosperity."
