Today, Rep. Ben Ray Luján applauded President Obama's signing of the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act, which will authorize Congress to approve advanced investments for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This Act provides the Department with the ability to plan ahead to deliver care designed to best meet the needs of veterans in New Mexico and throughout the country. Rep. Luján was a cosponsor of the legislation in the House of Representatives.
"The men and women who have served our country honorably and bravely deserve the best care when they return home," said Rep. Luján. "Providing advanced funding for the VA will help them deliver health services to our veterans in a manner that is more consistent and benefits from advanced planning. I am greatly encouraged by today's signing of this important legislation, and I will continue to fight in Congress and in New Mexico to promote the needs of our veterans."
The Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act had the support of many veterans organizations, including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans, and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
