Sen. Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee for governor, released the following statement on Tuesday following the news that Virginia's drop out rate has decreased as high school graduation rates increased since last year.
"Today's news confirms that, while there is still room for improvement, we are making progress towards our goal of having every child graduate high school ready to succeed. During my 18 years in the legislature, I have been proud to be a leader in improving our school system and helping Virginia become the best state in the country for a child's lifetime success. On the issue of education, Virginians have a clear choice between continuing the progress of Governors Warner and Kaine or moving backwards with proposals that cut money from our schools to fund other priorities. In a Deeds administration, investing in our children's future will always be a top priority."
