Inhofe Disappointed With Committee-Passed Health Care Bill

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today made the following statement about the Senate Finance Committee-passed Baucus Health Care bill:

"I am disappointed that the Senate Finance Committee today passed the Baucus plan largely on party lines," Inhofe said. "The Baucus bill, costing $829 billion, still leaves 25 million Americans uninsured, and is paid for by raising taxes and cutting Medicare and Medicaid. The Co-op included in the bill is really a thinly-veiled Public Option that so many Americans are against, and the bill does nothing to address medical malpractice reform. At the end of the day, the Baucus bill will not improve our health care system or bring down costs.

"We can and should address health care reform in a bi-partisan way that is not rushed through a convoluted, closed-door, secret legislative process. Unfortunately, Democrats are more interested in appeasing their ultra-liberal base instead of providing meaningful reforms that will not bankrupt our future generations."
