Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today released the following statement following news from the U.S. Department of Labor that the country lost 263,000 jobs in the month of September and the unemployment rate rose from 9.7 percent to 9.8 percent.
"For more than a quarter of a million Americans, last month's continued job losses underscore the failure of the so-called stimulus' that was sold to us as a jobs bill. It's time for those who backed this failed government spending program to return to the negotiating table and work in a bipartisan way on a new plan. Small business is the engine that drives America's economy. We need to pass a real jobs bill that empowers small business owners with tax incentives and less onerous federal regulations. I'll continue working with Republicans and Democrats to do just that."
