New GI Bill Began Saturday, August 1st

Earlier this year, I wrote to you about the new GI Bill for the 21st Century; legislation Congress passed to update the hugely successful GI Bill to address the needs and concerns of today's returning veterans. I wanted to remind you about these improved benefits and let you know the program took effect this past Saturday, August 1st.

The new GI Bill for the 21st Century covers 100 percent of the tuition costs of a four-year education up to the level of the most expensive in-state public school. In addition, returning veterans are eligible for a stipend to cover housing, books and other related expenses going forward.

The GI Bill for the 21st Century renews our commitment to the newest generation of America's veterans by providing those who want to transition into civilian life with the educational and training opportunities they need to succeed. But the program is only helpful to those who know about it, so I encourage you to share this page with anyone who might find it useful.
