The office of Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., issued the following press release:

Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) will host a special reception in Washington, D.C. on Friday, May 28, to commemorate the service of Oregon's World War II veterans. The reception is open to Oregon World War II veterans, their families and friends and will be held prior to the dedication of the National World War II Memorial on the National Mall on Saturday, May 29. Walden's reception will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building across from the U.S. Capitol Building.

"The dedication of the National World War II Memorial represents a long-overdue recognition of the sacrifices of America's Greatest Generation, the brave men and women who fought and died to defeat fascism and tyranny around the globe," said Walden. "It will be a profound honor to welcome Oregon's World War II veterans to the nation's capital for this historic occasion. I encourage Oregonians who are interested in attending this event to contact my office as soon as possible. My staff and I stand ready to assist them in any way we can to make their stay in Washington as memorable as possible."
