Employment and Affirmative Action Issues
One of my top legislative priorities is the retention and creation of jobs in Wyoming. I am a strong supporter of national job-training programs implemented under the Workforce Investment Act because these programs recognize that state and local flexibility and public/private sector partnerships are key to achieving this goal. While empowerment zones do hold promise, I am concerned that a broad expansion of this concept will dilute their value.

I believe in equal employment opportunity and am very supportive of existing federal laws that prohibit discrimination in the workplace. Federal affirmative action programs should be continuously assessed to determine their effectiveness and appropriateness.
