The International Longshore and Warehouse Union's Northern California District Council has announced its endorsement of Senator Mark DeSaulnier for Congress. The ILWU District Council joins a long list of labor organizations in supporting DeSaulnier for Congress, including the Contra Costa Central Labor Council, the Public Employees Union Local 1, the Alameda Central Labor Council, and the United Professional Firefighters of Contra Costa County Local 1230. The Northern California District Council of the ILWU represents nine locals throughout northern California and in CD 10.
"We at the International Longshore and Warehouse Union's Northern California District Council are proud to stand behind and endorse dedicated local representative Senator Mark DeSaulnier in his bid for Congress," said Fred Pecker, NCDC Secretary-Treasurer. "Mark has a long record as an advocate on behalf of working families throughout his tenure as a public servant. He has fervently fought for the rights of workers. We are confident he will make an exceptional congressman and will continue to push for job creation, universal health care, and safe working conditions."
"I am honored to receive the ILWU Northern California District Council's endorsement for Congress," State Senator and 10th CD candidate Mark DeSaulnier said. "As a State Senator, Assemblymember and Contra Costa County Supervisor, I have stood up to ensure the safety and rights of workers here at the local level. When I am in Congress, I will continue to represent the concerns of working families by advocating for affordable and quality health care, fair wages, and job security in CD 10."
