Rep. Kirkpatrick Criticizes White House Proposal To Make Arizonans Pay For Imprisoning Criminal Immigrants
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick today issued a statement expressing disappointment with the Administration's budget proposal to terminate the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), one of the few programs which reimburse states and localities for the costs of fulfilling the federal government's role along the border. Rep. Kirkpatrick issued the following statement:
"Our local law enforcement needs more resources, not fewer. They are being asked to play a critical role in illegal immigration and stopping the spread of drug cartel violence on the border into the United States. We cannot leave it to Arizona to pick up the tab for this national priority."
