Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, is pleased to announce that she is once again co-sponsoring the "Multiple Peril Insurance Act" that seeks to create an option for the National Flood Insurance Program to sell wind and flood coverage in a single policy thus helping countless of Americans who are faced with natural disasters.
This legislation would allow coastal residents to buy insurance with the knowledge that hurricane damage will be covered and they will not have to distinguish whether the damage was caused by winds or flood.
Ros-Lehtinen represents the Florida Keys in the US House and flooding caused by hurricanes costs millions of dollars each year to the island community.
Said Ros-Lehtinen, "Passage of this legislation in so important for residents of the Florida Keys that I so proudly represent in Congress. When a hurricane strikes and ravaging floods cause the massive damage they are notorious for, it is imperative that these residents, as well as all other coastal residents, know that they do not have to hire lawyers, engineers or public adjusters to tell them what damage was caused by wind and what was caused by flooding. I urge my colleagues to support this bill and help those living in flood prone areas."
