Carson: United Nations Critical to Lasting Peace and Economic Stability

Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement after returning from a visit to the United Nations (UN) in New York City, where he had an opportunity to speak with Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and a number of American representatives to the UN:

"As nations around the globe continue to struggle through economic recession and violent conflict, it is important for us to embrace the international cooperation that will be required to achieve lasting peace and economic stability. As one of the oldest and most well respected international institutions, the United Nations continues to facilitate the ongoing dialogue that continually serves as a basis for advancing agreement and understanding between countries around the globe.

"During a visit to the UN this week, I was proud to meet many of the dedicated public servants who represent the interests of the American public to the international community. As we press forward to address some of the most important global issues, these devoted individuals are working with their colleagues from hundreds of countries around the world to lead us toward enduring solutions that will bring about a safer and more prosperous United States."
