"Today's announcement by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) that the U.S. economy is in a recession is a re-statement of the obvious and further confirmation that working Americans need urgent and immediate relief. That's why it is critically important that Congress pass a timely and targeted economic stimulus package that will help working families victimized by job losses, chronic unemployment, foreclosures and the rising costs of living.
"Any further delay in the passing and implementation of a reliable and fiscally responsible economic stimulus package will only prolong the hardships and financial perils of low- and middle-income families who are currently struggling to pay their mortgages, send their children to college and secure their retirement savings."
