Corker Opposes Waxman-Markey Climate Bill

Press Release

Date: July 7, 2009
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Environment

U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, made the following statement today regarding the Waxman-Markey climate bill (H.R.2454) that passed the House of Representatives on June 26.

"I didn't think it was possible, but the Waxman-Markey climate bill appears to be even more problematic than the climate bill that tanked in the Senate last spring. I don't know of many special interests that don't receive a pay-off in this legislation, and if it comes to the Senate floor in this form, I'll vote against it."
