A Massive Tax Increase Coming to all Americans
Congressman Terry (R-NE) issued the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelsoi's new and devastating national energy tax unfortunately passed in the House of Representatives today:
"Today is a sad day for all Americans," said Congressman Terry. "Today's legislation means energy costs for Nebraskans will increase by $74 million dollars in 2012 and increase to $410 million by 2030. This massive increase will be a tremendous hardship on businesses, farmers and families. This bill is not a serious attempt to reduce carbon dioxide, rather it is a tax bill telling businesses they can still emit CO2 as long as they pay the government for this privilege. This would be called extortion under other circumstances. We do need to take sensible and affordable steps to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. My all of the above' energy plan includes increasing conservation efforts, developing new alternative energy and accessing gas and oil in Alaska. My plan lowers greenhouse gases and puts our country on the path to energy independence."
