Cardin Statement on Passage of Supplemental Appropriations Bill

U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), issued the following statement after the Senate passed the Conference Report on Supplemental Appropriations (H.R. 2346) by a vote of 91-5.

"We are finally focusing our attention and resources on the real threats posed by the terrorists who currently are finding safe havens in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region. The funding bill passed today will give our brave troops the resources they need to carry out their mission in Afghanistan with honor, while transitioning us out of Iraq in a secure and timely manner. It also strengthens our national security, helps to rebuild our international leadership, and prepares us for unknown crises like pandemic flu. I am pleased that President Obama has said that this will be the last supplemental appropriations bill, as he has put forward an honest budget for the future fiscal year without gimmicks or hidden big-ticket expenses, like war funding."
