Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) met with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this morning at a breakfast with the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Subcommittees.

Mack, the Ranking Republican of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, said:

"I appreciated the opportunity to speak with Secretary Clinton this morning to discuss the significant challenges facing U.S. foreign policy, particularly in Latin America.

"I am encouraged by her focus on some of the pressing issues facing Latin America, such as terrorism, drug trafficking, human rights, poverty, the struggle for democracy and the spread of leftist communism.

"Secretary Clinton showed a renewed commitment by the United States to focus on the region. We all share a desire for greater freedom, security and prosperity in Latin America, and I look forward to working with her on these issues and seeing the results of the upcoming Summit of the Americas."
