Boswell Announces $72 Million For Affordable Housing In Iowa

Des Moines Congressman Leonard Boswell announced today the Iowa Finance Authority has been issued $72 million to spur development of affordable housing units in Iowa. This funding was a critical component of the federal stimulus package.

"This funding will go a long way toward stabilizing our housing market and creating jobs in Iowa," said Congressman Boswell. "My primary focus has been putting Iowans to work and I am pleased that this funding will accomplish that goal as well as increase the availability and affordability of housing for families."

The US Treasury Department will work with the Iowa Finance Authority to jump start the development or renovation of qualified affordable housing for families across Iowa. Under this program, after meeting certain eligibility requirements, state housing agencies will receive funding to construct affordable housing developments.
