Congressman Bright's Statement on Health Care Television Advertisements and Mail Pieces

"Over the past couple of weeks, many of you have seen television advertisements and received mail pieces about my record on health care. While I am certainly committed to responsible reform which improves the affordability of and access to quality health care, these advertisements were created and distributed without my, or anyone on my staff's, knowledge. As many in the district may remember from the last election, outside groups who involve themselves in the political process do so independently and without the approval of the candidates or elected officials they reference.

"I certainly appreciate the calls into my office and I always welcome my constituents' thoughts and input on pending legislation in Congress, but I also felt the need to set the record straight on the source of these ads. As I have said before, there is only one thing that determines my vote in Congress: how legislation will affect the Second District of Alabama. That will never change."
