Ros-Lehtinen Reports On Yesterday's (WED) VA Hearing In Miami On Steps Taken To Contact Veterans
Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, attended a briefing on Wednesday, May 27th at the Miami Veterans Administration Medical Center on the steps the VA had taken to contact veterans whom the agency has not been able to locate thus far.
The new information given by the VA at this Wednesday briefing is the following:
The Miami VA has still not been able to contact 216 veterans.
72 veterans have declined testing or appointment.
In order to reach those 216 veterans, the Miami VA will have 7 nurses go door to door on June 6th.
In order to encourage those 72 veterans who have not wanted to get tested, the Miami VA will have a "Reach Out Fair" on June 13th at the Miami VA site.
Said Ros-Lehtinen, "The actions that the Miami VA says it will take are appropriate and correct. This very regrettable situation should never have occurred so it is their full responsibility to correct it and make it right for every veteran who may have been affected. It is squarely on them to begin the process of gaining back the public trust. The veterans expect nothing less from the VA, and as a lawmaker, wife and stepmother to veterans, I am in full agreement."
